Twenty two students built the 1989 house under the program.
It is a contemporary style, located on a large landscaped corner
lot, featuring an aluminum siding exterior; large energy efficient
windows, an open plan with oak stair railings and high cathedral
ceilings. There are three bedrooms, including a master bedroom
with adjoining sitting area with fireplace, two closets, a cathedral
ceiling, a whirlpool bath and lots of natural light; a first floor
den-guest room; a great room with cathedral ceiling and double
facing fireplace; a large kitchen featuring a built-in pantry,
appliances and a breakfast area which opens onto a large wood
deck. Two full baths, two half-baths, and a first
floor laundry room plus other features such as a built-in alarm
system, cable T. V. and phone outlets, super insulation and many
special storage features complete the home.
Instructor Tom Lancaster with Assistant Lloyd Cochran oversaw
the 19th home. Peter Tziahanas was the student designer.
His design was chosen from several which were drawn in the Huron
and Pioneer Architectural drafting classes. The interior
decoration was designed with the assistance of the Anderson Paint
Company and Vera’s Design Studio. Bob Guenther was Builder
of Record and President of the Board. The home sold for $250,000.
