John Wacker, President / Builder of Record
Wacker & Tuthill Company

Tom Lancaster, Instructor
Ron Adams, Assistant

The 10th home saw a new President elected to the Board of Directors, John Wacker of Wacker and Tuthill Company who also served as Builder of Record for the project.  Thirty students participated on the project under the direct supervision of Instructor Tom Lancaster and his Assistant Ron Adams.  Kevin Peters from Pioneer High School designed the home.  Both drafting classes, Huron High School with Instructor Ray Zawacki and Joe Dell’Anno with Pioneer High participated.

Nineteen students from Vivian Bort’s Interior Design class participated in decorating the four bedroom home.  It had a sunken family room with stone fireplace, two full baths, two half baths (one in the basement), a full basement and a large two-car garage.  The fireplace had an outside combustion air supply.  This home featured an energy-saving auto vent damper on the furnace and hot water heater as well as a fuel saver clock thermostat and spark ignition on the furnace.  The windows and sliding glass doors, steel insulated exterior doors, ceilings and walls, which carry a high insulation rating helped make this house tremendously energy efficient.  The home sold for $ 115,000.
